Flowers are among the best ways to decorate the house. And they’re for sure a great way to decorate the table. I love minimalist floral decorations, most of all when it comes to table sets and centerpieces.
We’re used to see, most of all on Pinterest but on magazines, too, some incredibly elaborate table arrangements, decorations and centerpieces. While they undeniably show mastery, I think they’re too much. When I see the pictures of those glamorous dinners hosted by brands or magazines I often wonder how people can manage to eat and talk to the other tablemates when surrounded by all those decorative objects and flowers.
To me, flowers should be a discreet presence during a meal.
Look how beautiful this simple table arrangement is. The flowers, put in simple jars, add a touch of color and beauty to the table without being intrusive.

I like the simple elegance of this almost total white table. And I like the knotted napkins.

A floral centerpiece and a single flower placed on a dish, with the add of a few candles. If you like the placemat, there’s the DIY project on the blog where I found this photo.

Flowers immediately add a touch of color, freshness and elegance. I really don’t understand how some people don’t like them!
Just remember that some type of flowers are not suitable to decorate the table. Those with a persistent scent can be annoying while eating and drinking as much as those that easily lose pollen, which can end up on food and stain the tablecloth/placemat (and your guest’s clothes!). Not to mention the fact that they can be a nightmare for people who suffer from allergies.
