These days, many sites and bloggers are kind of “mourning” the end of summer, even if I think that with summer they actually mean their holidays.
Talking about mourning (don’t go away, this post is about fashion!), let’s discuss about wearing black in summer. Some consider it nonsense, some… don’t consider it at all.
But who loves black knows that this love knows no boundaries. Wearing black has nothing to do with seasons and weather, it’s about a deep love for the “color of mystery”.
In short, even if so far this summer has been very hot (too hot!) almost everywhere, some women haven’t given wearing black.
Physically, black is the non-color, due to the absence of light or to its complete absorption. Did you know that? I thought the opposite until, during a class at school, a teacher proved it, also showing that white reflects every visible lights, so it contains every colors.
Browsing through websites and socials, we can see many colorful outfits, and most of them look like garments put together randomly. Of course some personal style bloggers are masters of this way of dressing, perfect to draw the attention (of photographers) and please fashion brands (who pay them).
So, even if these girls earn millions and live dreaming lives, I hardly find them inspiring, when it comes to style.
But let’s go back to black.
The best way to wear total black is to play with different fabrics and textures. But watch for the difference of shades.
I don’t like, and I’m not the only one, to match different tones of black (some seem a bit faded). Some consider it a capital sin, when it comes to style. Some firmly deny the existence of different shades of black, but they’re wrong.
Massimo Giorgetti, creative director of MSGM and Emilio Pucci (who puts lots of colors in his collections), said to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera that “black is something irresistible, for me. You never go wrong with black. During summer, by night, with tanned skin, is sexy. During winter is charming. Black is always black… And it will always be”.
As Neiman Marcus said “Women who wear black live colorful lives”.
Now, let’s take a look at some inspiring outfits and at some women who like to wear black.
